Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival in Ahmedabad | City Tour As soon as you arrive at Ahmedabad airport/railway station, proceed to the hotel.Ahmedabad, the former capital of Gujarat, is among the largest cities in terms of area. Located on the banks of the Sabarmati River, it is around 30 km from Gandhinagar – the state capital. The city has a long history, which is well-depicted in its many museums, monuments, palaces and archaeological sites. This old charm interestingly blends with the growing metropolitan culture of the city.In the latter part of the day, you will be taken for a sightseeing tour of some of the famous attractions of the city like ATMA, IIM, Sanskar Kendra and Sidi Saiyyed Masjid.After this tiresome day, retreat to your hotel room for a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 2 – Ahmedabad – Lothal – Ahmedabad (approx. 180 km)

Following a delectable breakfast, undertake an excursion to the archaeological site of Lothal.One of the most extensively excavated Indus Valley Civilisation site, Lothal literally means ‘Mound of the Dead’. It was a thriving commercial centre of the Harappan people, with trade of gems, beads and silver ornaments. Its dockyard – the earliest known one-of-its-kind – was built to reach out to the rest of the world.Later, head towards Sarkhej Roza, just 8 km from the city centre. This architectural complex, constructed during the great rule of Mughals, was home of the Muslim religious leader Ahmed Kattu Gang Baksh. It comprises a stepped tank, mosque, palace, pavilions and tombs.After this heritage walk, come back to your hotel in Ahmedabad for an overnight stay.

Day 3 – Ahmedabad – Modhera (140 km) – Patan (40 km) – Adalaj Stepwell (110 km) – Ahmedabad (20 km)

Today is going to be an interesting day as you will be taken to visit various tourist attractions of Gujarat.Embark on a road journey to Modhera to see the famous Sun Temple. Positioned on the Pushpavati River, the temple was constructed by the Solanki rulers in admiration of the sun god, Surya. This architectural legacy – known for its unrivalled grandeur and detailed artwork – is no more in use, and is looked after by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).Later, move towards the Rani-ki-Vav or the Queen’s Stepwell at Patan. Located on the banks of Saraswati River, this UNESCO-listed structure is divided into seven levels of stairs. You will be wonderstruck by its intricate artworks that are a mix of mythological, religious and secular images.Thereafter, visit the interesting Adalaj Stepwell. A unique water building, it was constructed in the 15th century by Muslim king Mohammed Begda for the wife of Veer Singh, the Vaghela chieftain. This intricately carved Vav, as stepwell is called in Gujarati, is five storeys in depth this tour, drive back to Ahmedabad for an overnight stay.

Day 4 – Transfer from Ahmedabad to Bhuj (approx. 450 km)

Set for a journey to Bhuj – a city and municipality in Kutch district.While here, visit the impressive Aaina Mahal, known for its splendid artwork. An 18th century edifice, it has beautiful marble walls, which are adorned with glass and fine gold lace.Next, proceed to the grand Prag Mahal, located just adjacent to the Aaina Mahal. This 19th century palace is elegantly designed in the Italian Gothic style.In the end, explore the riches of the Kutch Museum, founded in 1877 by Maharao Khengarji. This old museum has a huge collection of Kshatrapa inscriptions – dating to the 1st century AD, samples of the extinct Kutchi script and several old coins belonging to different times. It also depicts various tribal cultures, with arms, arts and crafts, paintings, musical instruments, sculpture and precious artefacts.After this insightful day, retire to your hotel room for an overnight stay.
